If a barrister is likely to be consulted in the divorce process, the earlier this can be done the better, so there is a consistency in the proposals for agreement. This can avoid divorce bills which are out of proportion to the amount and problems at stake. By bridging the roles of solicitor and barrister, there is no reason not to have the barrister managing your problem from the outset, someone who can
- understand fully the client’s needs
- clarify the issues and proposed resolution at the outset, and
- constantly monitor progress and review how best to bring issues to an early and satisfactory conclusion.
If the client can and wishes to undertake some of the work to reduce the costs bill, this is very much encouraged.
